They also contribute to the technical community through topical writing, building products, attending events, and public speaking (if that’s your thing).

About Zaengle:

Qgiv, Inc.: Software Engineer

Authentic Jobs - Full Stream -

Full-time

(Lakeland, FL)

Our mission is to help people fulfill their passion to make a difference for others. Non-profit, faith-based, and political organizations depend on Qgiv to power their fundraising through our industry leading software and growing suite of products and services. We absolutely love the work our clients do and we’re looking for someone who can help them achieve their mission through the Software Engineer role.

“What would you say, you do here?”

We pride ourselves on building a quality product. As a Software Engineer, you’ll take business requirements and leverage Voice of Customer to help us build a world-class user experience. Collaborating with other members of the Product team, you’ll gather requirements and implement the back-end infrastructure of new features and updates to our existing platform. When bugs in the system popup, you’re able to dig in, debug the issue, and find a resolution that solves the root cause - and doesn’t create new ones!

Do you love building systems and problem solving? So do we! Whether it’s overcoming a technical hurdle or finding a solution that helps users, your passion for solving problems will help you be successful in this role. You strive to write simple and elegant code, and look for ways to build scalable, easy-to-maintain systems. Do you appreciate well-organized and beautiful data visualization? This role will be focused on making sure the data that comes out of our system is accurate, well-represented, and easy-to-understand. On the technical side, your experience in the following will also be necessary:

  • PHP and MySQL
  • Object-Oriented Programming
  • HTML, JavaScript and jQuery
  • RESTful APIs
  • Ability to integrate with 3rd party APIs – we use SendGrid and Twilio to name a couple
  • Github (or some other method of version control)
  • Effective at resolving PC Load Letter issues

As a member of the Product team, you would also help us with maintaining our 2-week development cycle, keeping bugs in the system at a minimum, developing documentation for code you write, and helping us further improve and optimize our framework. Members of our team are effective communicators and can self-manage their time as it relates to our team’s goals.

Though our platform is easy to use, there is a lot going on under-the-hood. You will become a product expert in the first 90 days through in-house training, a little bit of experimenting, and asking lots of questions. You should be comfortable and resourceful in debugging code and troubleshooting across various browsers. Be okay with not knowing things, but strive to learn as much as possible.

What’s it like to work at Qgiv?

We are guided by our Core Values: introspection, empathy, persistence, openness, and passion. We work hard to meet deadlines and goals, but we also like to have fun. We eat cake every month to celebrate birthdays, and sharing a beer with colleagues is something you might see around the office. We strive to create a culture where individuals can grow personally and professionally, and maintain a work environment you actually look forward to every day. Most importantly, we know that at the end of the day our software helps make the world just a little bit better.

Mux: Video Engineer

Authentic Jobs - Full Stream -

Full-time

(San Francisco, CA)

Video Engineer

At Mux

About us:
Mux is building the future of online video infrastructure. Our first product was analytics and performance monitoring - think “NewRelic for Video” - used by major video streaming companies like PBS, Vimeo, and the New York Times to monitor and improve billions of streams. We just announced Mux Video, a simple API to video hosting, encoding and streaming - think "Stripe for Video" - which uses our performance data, machine learning, and just-in-time encoding for unmatched video quality and efficiency. POST a video in; GET a video out that plays anywhere and is deeply optimized for the target device and user. Then get creative with features like audio transcription and face detection. We think building with video should be fun, not complicated.

The Role:

We’re looking for video engineers to work on the transcoding and delivery pipeline for our video API. You’ll work in C, C++, and Go to help build a greenfield system that will change the way people publish video online, including features such as just-in-time encoding, content aware encoding, quality rendition strategies using machine learning, face detection, audio transcription, and more.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • You want to make online video infrastructure better.

  • You are an excellent C/C++ engineer. Go experience a plus.

  • You know video. You can parse MP4s, hack ffmpeg, and tune it to run at huge scale in the cloud.

  • You understand video publishing. While you’re comfortable deep in the weeds of video compression, you understand what customers care about and why.

  • You want to solve problems creatively and not just copy what everyone else is already doing

You Will:

Be joining an amazing team from places like Google/YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Brightcove, and Bain. Our founders previously started (and sold) Zencoder, an early leader in cloud video technology. We also authored Video.js, the biggest HTML5 video player on the web. We were named one of the best Y Combinator startups of 2016, and we recently raised a Series A from Accel, joining existing investors SV Angel, Lowercase, the founders of Heroku, Parse, and others.

What We Can Offer:

  • Supportive culture that cares about both excellent work and work-life balance

  • Salary + equity with perks like a 10-year exercise window

  • Competitive health, dental, and vision insurance (99% employee and 50% dependent premium coverage)

  • Commuter benefits

  • 401(k)

  • Cell phone service and device reimbursements

  • Catered lunches, snacks, and good coffee

  • Paid parental leave

  • Flex PTO policy

  • Long-term disability insurance

  • Investment in career growth and training

Mux is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status.

We are a technology consultancy working with healthcare marketing teams to dramatically improve and enhance the digital patient experience. What does a Senior UX/UI Designer do at Modea?

We tackle interesting projects on cross-functional teams made up of software engineers, designers (that’s you!), project managers, strategists and web analysts. These team members work very closely with each other and the client to design and build awesome, consumer web and mobile experiences. We conduct user research and establish ourselves as the expert on a project team when asked “What’s best for the user?”

We're currently looking for a hardworking and experienced Senior UX/UI Designer to lead user research and visually design innovative user interfaces for some of our best clients. The right person for this role has experience with both UX research and high fidelity visual design, is a great communicator, and understands how to design with a purpose. They also have experience leading and mentoring other designers. This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Blacksburg, VA.

Here are a few specific things we’d be looking for you to do:

  • Conduct user experience research and testing: We want you to be incredibly connected to the designs you’re producing and the goals those designs are working to accomplish. By getting involved in this work you’ll be able to interview live users of the client’s website or app, develop personas, and conduct research that provides a clear understanding of how design, site architecture, and content can impact the user’s experience.
  • Create exciting and effective visual designs: Once the UX research is done, it’s time to put pencil to paper (so to speak) to create high quality designs that will help the end user realize greater value from their web or mobile experience.
  • Meet project goals and deadlines: We operate a robust “Lean Agile” project management practice that helps us stay organized and iterate our work to create client value faster. This involves being a part of regular meetings and collaborating with the rest of the team within two-week sprints.
  • Bring design best practices to the table: We’d consider you the design expert on each project and would be looking for you to ensure that design best practices are being followed at all times.
  • Lead others: Part of this role will be collaborating with, coaching, and mentoring other members of the design team. This will involve both informal mentoring as well as formal reporting relationships.

What are we looking for?

Here is a list of skills and qualities that are critical to this role:

  • Be a great listener and communicator (oral and written)
  • Be naturally curious and love problem solving
  • Have experience doing UX and UI design on multiple projects
  • Enjoy working together with developers to bring a design to life
  • Be proficient in the principles and practice of Mobile First and Responsive web design
  • Be an expert using industry standard design software like Sketch and Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Experience leading other people (coaching, mentoring, interviewing, etc.)
  • Have a positive attitude and an inspiring work ethic
  • Be able to think commercially and translate business goals into your work product
  • Be pleasant to work with and a team player
  • Have a college degree or a similar degree of life experience
  • Be passionate about interaction design and ready to share your favorite blogs, authors, etc.
  • A working knowledge of atomic design principles and use of pattern libraries

Why should I apply?

First, you’ll love the work we do and the people you’ll get to do it with. We’ve assembled an exceptionally smart and hardworking team and you’ll enjoy the work associations and general camaraderie with other “Modeans.” We also work with great clients who value us and our contributions.

Second, Modea offers a great benefit package that provides both a fun and enjoyable workplace and great perks that will improve your quality of life:

We’re on the hunt for an experienced Web Developer who is passionate about building fast, accessible, modular and responsive websites—whether that’s using HTML, CSS or JavaScript. We’re searching for a bright, energetic person who can work closely with our creative and development teams to bring complex websites to life—all while being mindful of the latest development trends and keeping both the client’s goals and the end user in mind.

Please note that we will consider remote applicants for this position, but you’ll get bonus points from us if you live in the Indianapolis area.

Here’s a snapshot (but not all) of your technical responsibilities:

We assume that a person with your experience has handled a website launch or two in your life, but just to clarify, here are some things we keep in mind when reviewing your application:

  • Ample experience. What does this mean? While we won’t put a requirement on the amount of years, we do want to see your portfolio of web work. We also want to know that you’re familiar with the tools and thinking we apply to our work:
    • HTML, CSS and JavaScript
    • Front-end patterns, such as BEM, Atomic Design and object-oriented CSS
    • Frameworks, such as React, Vue.js and Angular
    • Templating tools, such as Twig and Handlebars
    • Module bundlers, such as Webpack, Browserify and rollup.js
    • LAMP-based CMS platforms, such as Craft, ExpressionEngine and Wordpress
    • Git and GitHub
    • Writing and debugging PHP
  • Get with the program. While our solid team of UI/UX designers design things that people will gush over, the more you have a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Sketch, the better. From time to time, we might ask you to provide technical insight to our web team.
  • Nerd out with data and process. Know how to scale websites as they increase in traffic and complexity, and understand the importance of progressive enhancement and graceful degradation.
  • Be a catalyst. Be vigilant about web standards, performance, accessibility and usability by researching and providing recommendations on services/technologies for various projects. We’ll also want you to be cognizant of site performance and speed, including best practices for reducing HTTP requests, browser repaints and mobile overhead.
  • Juggling master. You should be able to handle multiple projects and deadlines while also being focused enough to remain committed to those that span multiple months.
  • Stunning interactions. You should be able to show how you think in development as it relates to UI/UX. Show us what you’ve been working on!
  • Troubleshooting skills. Yeah, we want you to be able to figure it out, whatever “it” is.
  • Taste matters. Our clients come to us because we care about making them look amazing in their customers' eyes. Show us that you know what people like.
  • Start to finish. You can go from brainstorming with the team to delivering thoughtful mock-ups for all digital platforms. You can see a project through to completion, no matter what obstacles stand in your way. Stick to budget. Not only are you wise with our clients’ money, you also know how to accurately quote your work.
  • Don’t procrastinate. Initiate. You know how to suggest and spearhead development. Here, your ideas matter. We expect you to put them into action when you see an unfulfilled need.
  • Play on a team. Participate in internal meetings on behalf of client accounts—and be willing to jump into the fray when help is needed. We expect you to follow our standards while working in the pipeline with other team members, including the UI/UX team.

If you have a great personality, enjoy cracking difficult problems and are an all-around team superstar, you’ll go far with our agency. If you're wondering what makes TrendyMinds a great place to work, check out some of the perks here. Join us!

Here’s what you’ll need:
  • At least three years of professional, post-collegiate experience
  • A B.S., B.F.A. or equivalent work experience
  • Must be a U.S. resident. Bonus points if you live in Indianapolis.

Job Perks: New equipment, Ongoing Education, Snacks, Happy Hour, Health Insurance, 401k, Training, Swag, Bike Racks and Showers, Philanthropy, Paid Time Off, Parties, Lunch and Learns, Coffee/Tea/Soda, Flexible Schedules, Rooftop with a Grill and Outdoor Kitchen, Modern Environment

Apply: If this sounds like a fit for you, please send us your resume, link to your web portfolio and explain how you can contribute to our team. A phone call will not increase (and may decrease) your chances, so please give us some time to look over your materials. If we think you might be a good fit, we’ll reach out to you.
